Q. Why would I want to work at the People’s Market?

A. So many reasons!

  • It’s a stable job until graduation, if you choose to stay beyond the minimum commitment of two semesters.
  • No central authority (a boss) means your voice matters.
  • You get to work in an environment you can create. With the right resources and with consensus, you can change the color of the wall paint. If you have a passion for natural skin care, you can talk to the Buying committee about opening a dialogue with a new vendor. If you enjoy keeping things organised and handling paperwork, you can join the Bookkeeping team. “This is your market!”
  • You broaden the community’s consciousness about the local foods, organic, and cooperative movements.
  • You meet and instantly befriend 20+ wonderful people!
  • You’re always around coffee, tea, baked goods, and fruit: what could be better?

The application

for Fall 2012 is located here! Print it out and hand it to a co-manager at the market by Friday, 14 September. We’re excited to hear from you!

The end of the semester

has come, and that means a number of things:

  • We’ll be closing Tuesday, 1 March at 5pm
  • Seven co-managers will be leaving the cooperative to continue their studies, to graduate, or to study abroad. We will miss them a lot! In the fall, though, we will be hiring! The application will be posted here early next week.
  • You should come visit a few more times before we have to say goodbye! Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea alongside a bagel, a fresh piece of fruit, and a slice of cheese.

We look forward to seeing you before the summer! ♥ PM
